Halloween Carnival @ Christ Church
Oct 27 @ 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Christ Church would like to invite you and your family to our Halloween Carnival on Saturday, October 27th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. We will have lots of games, a haunted youth room, pumpkin decorating, face painting, a “pumpkin” cake walk, food, candy, and much more. The cost is free, but we will be accepting donations and canned food donations. This event is open to the community, so please invite everyone you know. If you would like to help by donating baked items for the cake walk, candy, decorate your car for the Trunk or Treat, or your time to help at the event, please contact Krista Heuett at (417) 838-4149 or krista@christepiscopalchurch.com

Youth Halloween Lock-In @ Christ Church

I hope you are enjoying this wonderful fall weather. This is definitely one of my favorite times of year which also makes me happy to share with you our Halloween Carnival and Lock-In on October 27th-28th.

We will begin our evening with a Halloween Carnival open to all from 3-6 pm. I know the youth are excited to help with our carnival games, face painting, pumpkin decorating, the haunted youth room, and much more. After the carnival, we will enjoy dinner, activities, and laser tag in the dark. We will conclude our lock-in with Sunday worship at 10:30 am at Christ Church. The cost is $10 per person which includes meals. Make sure to get your costumes ready, invite your friends, and register here!

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I am so excited to see everyone in costume enjoying themselves while helping create an afternoon of fun for our community!

Bishop’s Ball

The Youth Ministry Commission of The Diocese of West Missouri cordially invites you and your family to attend the 12th annual Bishop’s Ball on Saturday, November 3rd beginning at 6 p.m.

The evening will begin with hors d’oeuvers at 6 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. Following dinner, our Youth Ministry Commission will honor members of our community for their outstanding achievements this year. The evening will conclude with music and dancing.

Dress attire is semi-formal. There will be a $10 fee for those not attending the Diocesan youth Gathering.

Bass Pro Conservation Run

-Bass Pro Conservation Run: On Sunday, November 4, expect traffic delays near the downtown area as the Bass Pro Conservation Run will begin at 7:45 a.m. and conclude around 1 p.m. The marathon route is not completely closed but intersections are controlled by police officers. The route re-opens to traffic on a rolling schedule according to a 6.5- hour marathon pace or (15 minutes per mile) beginning 15 minutes after the official race start. Click here to view the marathon map.

Thanksgiving Community Dinner @ Christ Church Parish Hall

JOIN US FOR THE ANNUAL THANKSGIVING COMMUNITY DINNER
WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 14TH 6 PM As we prepare for the annual community dinner it is time to think about how we serve our neighbors at Christ Church. There are many opportunities to be a blessing in our community.

Make Some Traditional Thanksgiving Favorites to Share
We need full pans of sweet potatoes & stuffing, pies, cranberry sauce & relish tray items.

Provided Needed Funds
The turkey envelopes are back out. Slip your donation for food in the envelope and return it to the church office or even put it in the plate during the Sunday service.

Donate New or Gently Used Coats, Socks, Sweatshirts, Hats, Gloves, Mittens, Scarves
Our guests need basic supplies as we enter winter. Consider sharing your resources.

Serve During the Feast
We would love to have you as a volunteer or musician to make this a night of giving thanks for all our guests. We have needs before, during & after the meal. If you plan on volunteering – be sure to sign up. Unplanned volunteers are difficult to manage. Volunteers must be 6th grade & above. Jr High volunteers will oversee table bussing. High School volunteers will serve on the food line. Adult volunteers will work in a variety of other positions. If you would like to attend the Thanksgiving dinner with younger children, we would love to have you join us for the meal. Enjoy the company of our guests and let them know why CEC is a great place to find fellowship.

Join Us with Your Family & Enjoy a Thanksgiving Meal with Our Neighbors
Doors open at 6 pm (earlier if we are staffed & ready to go) & it will be crowded. Parishioners should plan on arriving after 6:30 pm – your wait will be less, and you will have time to enjoy your meal & share a conversation with our guests.

HERE IS WHAT TO DO
Sign-ups & schedules are available online. Links to the Signupgenius can be found by clicking the link here, on the church website, and on the Christ Episcopal Church Facebook page. A link will also be sent via email to parishioners. Paper signups can be found outside the church office. Please provide your email address & phone number if you sign up on paper forms at the church. You will receive a call or email, so we can place you in a volunteer position or provide more information on when to deliver donated Thanksgiving food.

The Outreach committee is honored to continue the Thanksgiving dinner tradition at Christ Church. We appreciate the strong sense of community that surrounds this event. We are grateful to the many people who provide the resources & time to make this dinner a success.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

-Thousand Cranes All-Parish Activity: Christ Church would like to invite you and your family to join us in the Parish Hall at 9:10 a.m. on Sunday, October 21, for the thousand cranes All-Parish Activity. The folding of the thousand cranes will be led by Penny Gordon-Chumbley and is a traditional Japanese way to wish for peace and healing. A light breakfast will be served during the activity.

-Inquirers' Series: Christ Episcopal Church will hold a series of classes this fall for those who are new to the Episcopal Church and for long-term members who would like a refresher course in the church's teachings.  This series will serve as preparation for those who wish to make a "mature public affirmation" of their Baptismal faith through confirmation or reception. -Second Sunday Brunch will take place on November 11 directly after the 10:30 a.m. service. We welcome visitors and members to come and join us. Thank you to the Welcome and Growth committee members for providing the food for Second Sunday Brunch, and special thanks to Robin & Rodney Quinn for organizing each meal.

-Plans for the Thanksgiving Community Dinner at Christ Church are underway and will take place at Christ Church on Wednesday, November 14, at 6 p.m. For more information and planning details please visit our News and Announcements page. If you would like to sign-up to volunteer for the dinner using signupgenious you can do so by clicking here, or you may use the volunteer board in the hallway past the church offices.
